1. Regrading Surface: a landscape architect has been out to see the site, and we have an estimate for $15,000: regrading of area for proper drainage and installation of sock cover drainage pipe (including trenching). This will be covered by clean gravel. Next layer will be filter fabric and finally covered by fresh woodchips. At present, we have $3,500 in the kitty.
2. Better Lighting: we would like to get, an interim solution, 'vandal' lights, which clip on to the existing light poles and provide more closer, more intense light than we have now. Our hope is that increased lighting will eventually come from the Schuylkill River Delta project.
3. Fund Raising: we are tossing around the idea of 'selling' Dog Association membership cards for $10. While they do not entitle the holder to any particular perks, it could be viewed as a club membership (but one that cannot bar non-members in any way). Funds would go to the kitty for projects such as the much needed resurfacing of the Run (see #1 above).
4. Fountain: the new fountain has already rusted. Sharon called the manufacturer, who has agreed to replace it completely in the next few weeks, so we should not be without the fountain during the summer months.
5. More Benches: one of the benches in the large dog area needs to be fixed, we could use another one on that side too, and at least one more in the small dog area.
6. Disappearing Balls: some dog owners, not wanting their dogs to chew on old, dirty tennis balls, are throwing them in the trash and depriving other dogs the pleasure of their use. This not fair to most of the users of the Run. We will be purchasing and installing a basket on one of the fences where unwanted loose balls can be put while those owners are in the Run.
We then discussed the continuing problem of children in the Run and owners not picking up the poop.
